Photoinduced hardness change on TiO(2) single crystal surfaces.

چکیده
The dynamic hardness of rutile TiO(2) single crystal surfaces was investigated using a nanoindentation technique and the hardness increase was observed only in the near-surface region, possibly due to the volume expansion accompanied by the photoinduced high hydrophilicity.

Novel photocatalytic antibacterial activity of TiO2 microspheres exposing 100% reactive {111} facets.
TiO(2) microspheres constructed by well-crystallized faceted nanorods with high aspect ratios expose 100% photocatalytic reactive {111} facets on the spherical surface. The microspheres demonstrated excellent photocatalytic antibacterial activity towards Staphylococcus aureus due to effective suppression of photoinduced electron-hole pair recombination and active TiO(2)@˙OH core-shell structure.
متن کاملA selective etching phenomenon on {001} faceted anatase titanium dioxide single crystal surfaces by hydrofluoric acid.
A selective etching phenomenon on {001} faceted anatase TiO(2) single crystal surfaces by HF and associated etching mechanism are reported. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that HF stabilizes the grown {001} facets at low concentrations, but selectively destroys the grown {001} facets at high concentrations.
متن کاملPhotocatalytic oxidation surfaces on anatase TiO2 crystals revealed by single-particle chemiluminescence imaging.
We report a single-particle approach for studying the photocatalytic oxidation reaction on individual anatase TiO(2) particles. Single-particle kinetic and imaging analyses of the chemiluminescence (CL) emitted from the probe dye molecules revealed that the oxidation reactivity is not significantly dependent on the crystal faces.
متن کاملHierarchical TiO2 nanospheres with dominant {001} facets: facile synthesis, growth mechanism, and photocatalytic activity.
Hierarchical TiO(2) nanospheres with controlled surface morphologies and dominant {001} facets were directly synthesized from Ti powder by a facile, one-pot, hydrothermal method. The obtained hierarchical TiO(2) nanospheres have a uniform size of 400-500 nm and remarkable 78 % fraction of {001} facets. The influence of the reaction temperature, amount of HF, and reaction time on the morpholog...
متن کاملReversible visible-light photooxidation of an oxomanganese water-oxidation catalyst covalently anchored to TiO2 nanoparticles.
Several polynuclear transition-metal complexes, including our own dinuclear di-μ-oxo manganese compound [H(2)O(terpy)Mn(III)(μ-O)(2)Mn(IV)(terpy)H(2)O](NO(3))(3) (1, terpy = 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine), have been reported to be homogeneous catalysts for water oxidation. This paper reports the covalent attachment of 1 onto nanoparticulate TiO(2) surfaces using a robust chromophoric linker L. L, a p...
